George Daniels

George Daniels is named on the Tytherington War Memorial.  He served in the 1st South Wales Borderers and died of wounds on June 26th 1918.  In the 1911 Census he is listed age 19 living with his father Thomas Daniels, a farmer at Hawkins in Tytherington, his mother Mary and two brothers and a sister.  It appears he may have been the youngest of 11 children.  His occupation is listed as a Delver (someone who uses a spade) in the local limestone quarry.

The photograph right was published in the Bristol Times and Mirror on Saturday 8th January 1916 along with other Tytherington men who had responded to the call of King and Country.  His war record is below.
