The Fight to Save the School

The Case for Tytherington School

Despite a huge outcry and effort by Governors, Parents, Friends, Children and Villagers, and communications with the Minister for Education Sir Keith Joseph the following letter was received by the Governors in April 1984.

It was a huge blow to everyone in the village but perhaps not entirely unexpected.  The school was to close at the end of the summer term 1984 after being in existence for 107 years.
