Tytherington Village
has a long established and flourishing amateur dramatic group which
plays an important part in the life of the village.
After more than 50
years and three Village Halls, the Tytherington Pantomime is still going
strong today.
The first production was Robinson Crusoe in 1953 and was staged in a
building known as the “Tin Hut” on Duck Street. In 1954 the pantomime
moved to the Church Hall which was on the site now occupied by
Tytherington Village Shop. The production that year was Cinderella and
many pantomimes followed, including Dick Whittington in 1955, until the Village Hall moved to the former
Village School building. Much work had to be done to provide staging and
curtains and scenery and the first pantomime opened at the new venue
with Mother Goose in 1996. If you have old pictures or programmes we could borrow to put on this site please contact tytheringtonroots@outlook.com or leave them in the village shop with your name and address. |
