We hope that this website will give you a glimpse
into the past of the parish of Tytherington in South Gloucestershire,
England. The information in Tytherington Roots comes from many sources and is based on the outstanding research work, "Tytherington in the Past - Some Historical Notes" published in 1990 and revised in 1994, by the late Allan Baddeley M.A., and assisted by the Tytherington Local History Group. We are most grateful that the author's children have given their permission for us to use his material. Should you wish to purchase a copy of the book please contact John Baddeley on john@hardwood.plus.com We would also like to acknowledge the invaluable assistance given by Chris and Sandra Doig of Thornbury Roots and for support from Thornbury and District Museum. Thank you to Stephen Bees, grandson of Arthur Davis, who has contributed a great deal of meticulously researched information on many aspects of village life. Our intention is to build on Allan Baddeley's work and we are grateful to those who have already contributed material. We welcome new information and photographs. Take your photos to the village shop in an envelope with your name and address clearly marked. We will copy and return the photos promptly. This is a new venture for the Tytherington Local History Group, and whilst we make every effort to ensure the accuracy of our work there may be errors and omissions, so please contact us on tytheringtonroots@outlook.com if you can add something new or put us straight if we've got something wrong! We look forward to hearing from you. Our site has six main sections, so follow your interests. You can also search the whole site, including our library of old and more recent photographs, using the site's search facility. This may be of particular interest to those of you involved in family research. |
