They were tough in those days! This iconic photograph has recently come to light. We believe it was taken around 1900 in Church Quarry behind St. James Church. The gentleman in the centre holding the oil can is thought to be Thomas Davis who lived in the Crossings opposite the church. We would like to identify as many of the men as possible.
